Born in Chicago in 1948 and raised on Long Island, New York, Carol Perry developed an appreciation for the arts at an early age through her parents, who introduced her to the works of artists including Andrew Wyeth, Henri Matisse, and Frank Stella.

She studied Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, earning an Associate of Science degree before beginning her career as a draftsman and architectural perspective illustrator for residential and commercial projects. Several years later Perry returned to Chicago to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, followed by a Master of Science in Computer Programming. Although encouraged to pursue a Master of Fine Arts, she chose a career in technology while continuing to nurture her artistic practice.

For more than three decades, Perry has exhibited throughout Southern California, earning numerous awards and placing works in private collections. She is also a longtime supporter of local arts organizations through annual charitable donations of her artwork.

Her paintings embody what she describes as a “psychological landscape.” Rich in color, gesture, and subtle visual tension, her work evokes emotional and mental terrains that encourage contemplation through abstraction.

Perry lives in San Diego with her husband, sculptor Wendell Perry.
